Making the Case.
On Christmas Eve, 2013, 17-year-old Brandon Aydelott knocked on the door of his mother's Florida home with a knife hidden in his sleeve and voices in his head telling him to use it on her.
The once popular student athlete violently unleashed his rage on 48-year-old Sharon Aydelott, slaughtering her in the doorway of her house, in a shocking attack of overkill that made headlines across the world and took everyone by surprise including Sharon, her family, and the well-to-do coastal community of Gulf Breeze where they lived.
The Aydelott family, though, had been plagued by problems for several years before the savage attack, including enduring a high-profile sexting scandal that cost Brandon Aydelott's father, teacher and coach Randy Aydelott, his job and his family.
